Our Charges Explained

Once your items are sold successfully, you will be charged a 17.5% + VAT commission fee, deducted from the proceeds of the sale.

Each lot you consign will be subject to a £20 + VAT consignment fee to cover the following pre-sale activity and benefits:

  • Indemnity cover for loss or damage to the value of the lower estimate
  • Secure storage of your items
  • Detailed research and cataloguing to best inform potential buyers
  • High definition multiple images for marketing purposes
  • Direct targeted marketing to potential buyers from Dawsons own database of registered bidders
  • Social media promotion to include Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, TikTok, and LinkedIn
  • Press advertising in publications such as The Antiques Trade Gazette and Antique Collecting Magazine
  • Showcase display allowing potential buyers to physically view items and discuss them in person with our experts
  • Promotion on Dawsons website which receives over 30,000 unique visits per month
  • Promotion on multiple international bidding platforms achieving reach to over 10 million active buyers worldwide
  • Promotion on our live display screens in our central London valuation office, attracting high footfall and enquiries
  • Watches and Art over the value of £1,500 will undergo checks by the Art Loss Register and Watch Loss Register, providing buyer confidence 
  • Upon request by potential buyers, condition reports and additional images are provided
  • Pre-vetting of potential bidders, ensuring due diligence
Yes, if an item was to sell at a hammer price of £2500, our standard charges would be calculated as follows:
 
Entry Fee: £20 + VAT
17.5% Standard Sellers Fee: £437.50 + VAT
 
The total fees payable including VAT would be £549.00, meaning the seller would receive £1951.00 sales proceeds within 30 days of the auction or sooner. 

Our experts are open to a negotiation on our standard sellers fees should we provide you with a valuation in excess of £10,000.

Yes, upon request, our experts are happy to provide complimentary, no obligation, sales advice on any items you are thinking of selling at auction. We can also offer home visits should you have a large collection or full house contents which you are looking to sell. If you require a valuation for insurance or for purposes of probate, we are fully qualified to provide these chargeable services.

We can provide a professional, fully insured, collection and transportation service upon request. Full quotations will be calculated on a case-by-case basis.

If you are considering selling jewellery, watches or silver with Dawsons and have received a valuation from us with an estimate value between £300-£2,500, you will be invited to use our free, tracked and fully insured, postal service.

For items valued at over £2,500 we can arrange a personalised and dedicated collection service.
