Reflecting on November’s Fine Pictures, Prints & Sculptures Auction

What's Next for 2025?

13/01/2025

Our inaugural Fine Pictures, Prints & Sculptures sale in November was a success, and the team here at Dawsons were thrilled to secure some truly excellent results for our clients. Showcasing several exceptional works of art, the auction captured the attention of collectors worldwide.

One of the highlights of the sale was a stunning painting by Sir Cedric William Morris, titled ‘Apples’. Coinciding with his work being celebrated at the Charleston exhibition, it felt like perfect timing. As expected, the painting proved extremely popular amongst bidders and went on to sell for a remarkable £62,000. The Dawsons team were privileged to handle the marketing and sale of such a lovely painting, and we were all delighted to achieve such a great result for our overjoyed client.

The sale also featured a Thomas Somerscales landscape. Steeped in the artist’s connection to Chile, a bidding war ensued between two Chilean collectors, which ultimately led to the painting achieving an excellent sale price of £20,000. As an international auction house, it is always gratifying to know that wherever potential enthusiasts and collectors may reside across the globe, the industry leading marketing team at Dawsons are able to reach those buyers with items of interest.
