The Day of the Jackal (1973) Edward Fox Signed replica fan-made replica sniper rifle and related ephemera.

a replica rifle / crutch, Signed ‘Edward Fox’ by the actor in black marker pen to the wooden arm rest of the crutch, the rifle metal with telescopic sights, measures (assembled) W. 92cm x H. 32cm (on metal base). The rifle and the crutch can be fully disassembled for transporting and storing within an accompanying foam padded aluminium and plastic case, also containing a pair of bullets and two-page hand-drawn assembly instructions.

Three 6 x 8-inch colour photographs, the first: depicted Edward Fox signing the wooden arm rest of this crutch; the second. depicted Edward Fox Signing the Autograph print, the third: depicted Reef Langdon seated with the rifle assembled. Film Review magazine, August 1973, featured on the front cover Edward Fox holding the original rifle in the film. The Day of the Jackal, Original Souvenir Programme, possibly for the film premiere held in Japan. and FORSYTH (Frederick). The Day of the Jackal, hardback book, Franklin Library of Mystery Masterpieces, published 1987, first Franklin Library edition, first printing, map illustrated endpapers, folding plate representing armourer Paul Goosen’s execution of the Jackal’s ingenious design for a one-off modification, tailor made for one man and one job under one set of circumstance, full-faux gilt decorative navy leather, all edges gilt, 8vo. Provenance: This rifle was made by Reef Langdon to the exact specifications and based on the same design as the rifle used by Edward Fox in his role as ‘The Jackal’ for the 1973 Universal film production. When Edward Fox attended a charity event and met with Reef Langdon, he held this rifle on his finger and weighed it, exactly as he had in the film, and declared that the similarity was remarkable.
