A late 19th / early 20th century diamond and butterfly wing brooch, in the form of a butterfly, the abdomen set with five old-cut diamonds, the largest approximately 3.5 mm wide, in a silvered setting, the yellow metal wings set with blue butterfly wings, bearing German patent mark to verso, 'Gebrauchs mustershutz', 'patent', and two small indistinct marks, in a Viennese red leather box (box a/f); butterfly, width 6.6 cm at widest part, 5 cm length.

Condition Report
The brooch is in overall good condition with wear to the glass and some loses to the butterfly iridescence which is due to age and use, however to the tip of the right hand there is wear through to a staple.
The boxes hinge is broken and the interior silk and velvet is frayed. There are marks to the red leather again due to age and use.
