An extremely rare and large Czech Borské Sklo cased, cut and gilded 'Expo 58' vase designed by Jaroslav Lebeda in 1957 for the World Exposition in Brussels in 1958, the waisted golden yellow body cased in opaque white cut with oval lenses, and gilded with a bands of zig zags with curving bases, with gilt rim. 30.5cm high. An extremely large example of this very rare range that updated traditional Bohemian designs and aimed to showcase the modernity of postwar Czech glass design. A similar, but smaller, shape was included in the commemorative supplement for the Brussels Expo produced by Czechoslovak Glass Review in 1958.
