Bulgari's watchmaking history began in Rome in the 1920's. Having found success in their fine jewellery offerings, the Maison applied the same elegant and unmistakenly Art Deco design principles to its timepieces, marketed exclusively to ladies. As popularity grew through the 1950's and 1960's, the brand branched out to design and manufacture one of its most recognisable and enduring pieces- the Tubogas.
1977 saw Bulgari launch its first gentleman's piece, and following its success soon after founded a specific watch arm to the business, operating out of Neuchâtel, Switzerland. Pieces such as the instantly recognisable 'Aluminium' designed in 1998 paved the way for Bulgari's modern day offering of elegant and exceptionally constructed sports watches. This formula is epitomised in the Octo Finissimo Automatic and its subsequent iterations.
