Augustus John (1878 - 1961), Study of a standing female nude, signed 'John' (lower right), pencil on paper (previously torn into four pieces), 49.5 x 24 cm, framed and glazed 65 x 37 cm

On the reverse is a reproduced letter from Augustus John to Zara Cazalet dated Sept 23 1939, asking whether the Queen would sit for him for 'an informal portrait' at Windsor Castle.

Condition Report

The drawing is sealed in a frame and glazed - it has not been removed from the frame for inspection. It has previously been torn into four pieces, but remounted as one before framing, There is a pencil line down the right side. Paper has discoloured with age. The mount has discoloured and will require replacing. Glass requires cleaning.
